Presentation design and the power of brand

Power of Branding

An effective branded presentation gives you an edge in the competition to gain mindshare. It speaks to who you are and where you’re headed. It distinguishes you, demonstrates professionalism and communicates your organization's ethos.

And, it is an indicator to your audience of what they can expect from you, your company and your product / service.

A branded presentation utilizes the three presentation elements: messaging (the narrative), information design, and voice / delivery to create a differentiated and memorable audience experience.

3 elements of an effective presentation-01-4

Most presenters invest time in messaging and consider how to effectively use voice and delivery to get their points across.  It never ceases to amaze us how many forgo design and show up with a poorly designed, or non-designed, deck completely missing the boat because graphics are the most important element in gaining mindshare for your ideas.  Here's why...

90% of the information the brain processes is visual and approximately 65% of people are visual learners. Scrimping on information design is NOT a smart strategy.

90% vs 10%-01

While the hours spent by senior executives and their teams to develop a key presentation are almost never tallied, the typical corporation invests between $20,000 and $60,000 in resources, split between man hours and travel costs, to develop, vet and give an executive presentation. Given the importance of strong and effective visuals on audience uptake and retention of information, walking in with a generic deck is clearly not a wise strategy.

The elements of a well-branded presentation include:

  • The corporate logo on every slide
  • A custom template and color palette that are consistent with the corporation's overall brand and the theme of the presentation
  • Type, photos and graphics (charts, tables and illustrations) that have a consistent style and color palette and that all work together to consistently support the intended audience experience for the specific presentation
